Eye Colour: bright green
Height: 6'4".

Occupation: Arch Deacon of the Builder's Cradle Hammerite cathedral in Dayport. Ex-interrogation master.
Appearence: He strikes an intimidating figure, with a muscular physique, broad shoulders and very large hands. He has a very expressive face, and his expression often switches from dark to furtive depending on his ever-changing moods. His eyes are bright and his hair is floppy and refuses to conform to any comb. Looking at him, one can tell that as a younger man he was quite handsome, if in a strange, detatched sort of way. His robes are black velvet and very long, with very voluminous sleeves. He wears Hammerite tabards of rich scarlet with gold-stitching. A small wooden hammer decorated with slivers of gold is a constant companion, hanging from his neck by a simple hemp cord with wooden beads. His hands are often bandaged by gauze to both protect and conceal his many scars and injuries.
Special Markings (tattoos, scars ect..): His hands are a tapestry of scars. Tiny burn marks go up both his arms, and his chest is spattered with similar tiny scars.
Bio: Renard Marlowe was born outside the City, in a small province that had a strong Hammerite faith. An extremely bright boy, his mother moved with him to the City so he could become a Novice. He excelled at his studies and dedicated each waking hour to the Hammerite order, supporting his mother by crafting hammer pendants for her to sell. When Renard was 16, his mother was killed by thieves raiding her store. It was then he learned that his mother held an addiction to psycotropic pagan herbs and potions, and had consorted with many men while under their effects.
In his 20s, he met and fell in love with a noble woman and opera soprano called Rosaline. Despite a passionate affair, Marlowe had a very hard time reconcilling his duties as both a priest and lover. It's during this time that he began showing darker and darker moods, developing an antisocial personality disorder. A frustrated Rosaline turned to drink, and with increasing bitterness and mistreatment at Marlowe's hands, grew sick and died of pneumonia. Convinced that her spirit haunted him, Marlowe threw himself into his prayers and away from intimacy of any kind. He willfully joined the select few Hammerites who tortured and interrogated pagans to learn more of the Trickser's plans, becoming a kind of wunderkind for the hidden inquisition.
Renard turned from a passionate disciple to a bitter, haunted man, who clings to the idea of man-made justice to compensate for divine misfortune. He shows little empathy but has an almost pathological favouritism for Hammerite novices, who he sees as clean vessels of the Master Builder. This proves that he IS still capable of affection, and can still form strong bonds with people (as evident in his friendship with ex-novice Vashek). Marlowe is a master manipulator with few scruples, thinking nothing of using physical violence or even threat of rape to achieve his goals. He is a psychopath, but very chamring and charismatic when needs be. He holds little regard for the laws of others, instead following his own strict code, even going against the rules of the church he holds dear. He loathes the children of the street who rebuff the Builder’s warmth as a means to escape their sin, and has an even deeper hatred for Pagans.
